David M White
Zen Birding evolved from David White's background in anthropology and his passion for birding and leadership in the birding organization the Audubon Society. His interest in Buddhism brought him to see birds not as objects but sentient beings. His widow anthropologist Susan M. Guyette PhD is French Canadian Metis an ethnic background of Micmac Indian and Acadian French heritage. Her work with Native American communities focuses on cultural preservation sustainable tourism and culturally based economic development. She is a student of Vipassana Buddhism.
