Mindful benefits

Mindfulness is extremely popular and is being universally promoted as a route to mental, emotional and spiritual health. It focuses the mind on what is being sensed at each moment, instead of ruminating on the past or worrying about the future. People often get caught up in thoughts without stopping to notice how those thoughts are driving their emotions and behaviour, in other words they are going through life on automatic pilot.

Mindfulness changes that kind of ingrained behaviour. Oxford University found that, on average, after just one month on a mindfulness course, 58% of participants experienced a reduction in anxiety levels, 57% a reduction in depression and 40% a reduction in stress. But crystals can get you there even faster. Gazing into the clear depths of a crystal, or carrying one as a reminder, offers instant clarity and stillness of mind. Crystals can help to shut off automatic pilot and the incessantly churning mind, moving into true mindfulness.

Bring Peace To Your Day

Place a large piece of Rose Quartz in the centre of your living space. Put your hands on the crystal and ask it to radiate peace and love into your home. Whenever you feel stressed, simply put your hand on the crystal, feel its beautiful energy and consciously breathe. Give all your attention to your in and out breaths. It only takes a moment. Staying grounded 

Unless your feet are firmly on the planet you cannot actualise your dreams.

Being grounded is essential to staying present in each moment. When you are anchored, you walk on the planet one step at a time. You integrate spiritual energies into the everyday and put ideas into practical reality. Being grounded helps you to let go detrimental thoughts or emotions – and cope.

Smoky Quartz

Smoky Quartz is one of the finest grounding crystals – and an effective detoxifier. If you are feeling down, hold a Smoky Quartz and good humour will soon reassert itself. It helps you to set realistic, achievable goals. If you are plagued by negative thoughts or worries, Smoky Quartz releases them. Using this crystal to stay grounded: Place a Smoky Quartz at your feet. Picture a root growing from the bottom of each foot meeting at the crystal. The roots twist together. The root then goes deep into the earth, passing through solid rock and fiery magma until it reaches the crystal core. The root ties itself firmly round the core gently anchoring you. You can draw energy up the root to replenish yourself if needed.

Calming yourself 

Being calm facilitates skilful handling of challenging situations.

If you have a calm, tranquil centre within yourself, you will always have inner peace. With inner peace, you can handle anything life throws at you.

Blue Lace Agate

Nurturing Blue Lace Agate has a wonderfully cooling and calming energy that instantly creates peace of mind. Enhancing communication, it encourages you to express your thoughts and feelings as they arise. It is particularly effective if you hold back because of fear of being judged. If you bottle things up you can never fully enter into mindfulness so wear the crystal at your throat to set your words free. Conversely, if you talk incessantly or speak without thinking, this compassionate stone helps you to consider the effect your words have.  Each word is spoken calmly in the moment rather than being thoughtlessly spewed out. Calm is ensured.

Using Blue Lace Agate to calm yourself: Place your Blue Lace Agate over your throat. As you slowly count to four, breathe in and be aware of how the breath moves past the Agate and down into your lungs as your belly expands. Hold your breath and count to five. Breathe out slowly and gently counting to six. Wait until you become aware of the need to breathe in again before repeating.
