REVIEWS & ENDORSEMENTS
  • I was extremely impressed with this 'super needed super helpful' how-to. It is right on time as we enter the Age of Aquarius and there is such a requirement for those of Light to band together to bring in Our New Age. This author has done that with style and finesse. I found the suggestions helpful, the information much needed and her experience, priceless.

I really enjoyed the exercises for channeling and especially those for increasing your gifts and connecting with angels and guides. I found the format easy to follow and the charts were great as well. The author's words give me confidence and, because I will be opening my own healing center in the not to distant future, it is exactly what I need when I need it most. (It's my definition of a miracle!)  I would recommend this little hunk of Heaven to anyone looking for a good proof way of coming together in love and light. Thank you Wendy, my gratitude knows no bounds!

  • This handbook explains how to build a group for lightworkers and is aimed at both new and experienced mediums alike. It is split into detailed chapters and gives explanations on many areas, such as divination, establishing communication with spirits and angels, and ways to gain expertise, amongst others. The final chapter takes a look at 'Interactive Tutorials' and gives ten different meditations, explaining when each can be used. There is also a list of further reading that might also be of help. This is a great guide, and is also an interesting read. Ghost Voices Magazine. www.ghostvoicesmagazine.com

I found The Lightworkers Circle Guide a highly informative and interesting read: heartfelt, well structured and enjoyable. I consider it a must-have for anyone who wants to sit in a circle. The level of detail about how groups should be organised can only improve results achieved, while the sensible advice - often supported with personal stories - reassures, and more importantly, ensures, the safety of all involved. An excellent comprehensive reference source that constitutes a method for experimentation that provides protection (which I suspect is much needed in this vast field). WENDY STOKES was Two Worlds agony aunt for many years. A London journalist, she still contributes articles to various Spiritualist and New Age publications. While home circles have been with us since Spiritualism began, in the New Age, their scope has widened considerably. Modern lightworkers form circles to develop their psychic and spiritual gifts under the guidance of teachers from the spirit and angelic realms. "They desire to contact us" writes Wendy, "because they care about us, and they are anxious about our wellbeing and the health of our planet".

The major religions discourage - and actively suppress - contact with the spirit realms. Why? "Because" Wendy says, "it is against their ideologies of Chosen People, Armageddon and Holy War which do not reflect spiritual truths, but human greed. The Godhead actually, has no religion, but does have plans for our planet and we can get together to work with spirit guides and change the future of our world."

Only like-minded people can work together in this way. Wendys workbook tells you how to find them and bring them together. It is important to decide from the outset what the circle is for, and the particular psychic and spiritual abilities sitters wish to develop. For instance, is it for healing, personal development or the improvement of the environment and conservation of natural resources, etc? Wendy, a qualified counsellor and teacher, has studied at various schools and run her own groups for 30 years. If you are thinking of starting such a circle, the advice and information given here will prove invaluable. Graham Jennings, Two Worlds Magazine. http://www.twoworldsmag.co.uk/

  • Wendy Stokes is usually located on page 6 with her regular contribution to Psychic World entitled ‘The Wendy Stokes Column’. As the author of ‘The Lightworkers Circle Guide – A Workbook for Spiritual Groups’ she defines the concept of the lightworkers’ circle as:   a group of like-minded individuals who meet together to access spirit wisdom and then deliver it to the world at large’. She explains: ‘In this teaching manual, I have provided information for a specific kind of mediumship, and I outline several methods where each group can hold their own effective workshops. I have included theories, examples and anecdotes that I think will be of interest, and of use to, those who wish to come together with others to access communications from spirit sources. Generally, a lightworker is any authentic, trustworthy and kind person, as lightworking is a way of life, not just a belief, and we need to show how our beliefs result in actions’.

The book displays the author’s teaching style and portrays her experienced knowledge about lightworkers. The book is soaked in wisdom and insight and every chapter is a fascinating one. The chapter I found most interesting was about divination as the author shares her knowledge of how to make tools for facilitating the discovery of ley-lines using a Y wand, pendulum and L rods (which can be cut from metal coathangers). The book was adapted from a course book for self-directed learning and investigation and there is an appeal for ‘experienced lightworkers to support those embarking on this path, as support is the most precious commodity in our world’. She continues: ‘However, the most relevant guidance will come from your own spirit associates who will awake dormant abilities so that inspiration can be discovered, divination skills explored, and intuitive healing experienced’.

Written perfectly in the ways of a mentor, this easy to follow book is a must for mediums who want to build a circle of lightworkers and conduct workshop meetings. But this book could also capture the interest of readers who want to find out more about lightworkers and spiritual groups in general. This is certainly a great reference book. Having read ‘The Lightworkers Circle Guide’ I found Wendy has a brilliant way of explaining in depth what each stage of the process is about, leaving no questions unanswered.  Check out the author’s website: www.wendystokes.co.uk

  • ‘The Lightworkers’ Circle Guide – A Workbook for Spiritual Groups’ is a 144 page teaching manual. The book is written for those who want to form a small group in order to access intuitive, psychic or healing wisdom for the greater good, ‘and then to deliver it to the world at large.’ A ‘lightworker’ is a term used here to describe an ‘authentic, trustworthy and kind person.’ Wendy has trained lightworker mediums in home groups for many years. ‘A lightworking circle offers a sense of belonging and a warm, cohesive, safe and friendly atmosphere to gain information, encouragement and support for all aspects of spiritual life’.

The early preparation stages of forming a circle are clearly explained alongside the decision of rotational or single leadership; devising a mission statement; how to find and interview potential members and guidelines on establishing ground rules (such as confidentiality). In this concise reference book, she has offered her vast experience alongside information on the practicalities of creating a group that honours equality and unity.

Chapter 4 ‘Establishing Communication’ includes methods to open, centre and protect the group and the author includes a ready-to-read-out relaxation induction. In Chapter 5 ‘Gaining Experience’ Wendy speaks of how groups can access various speciality spirits (such as angelic presences, spiritual help with police investigations and presences that are available to aid the creative arts, such as musical composition), the list is wide. She gives an example of Madame Blavatsky, who connected with the Himalayan Brotherhood via spirit and that their teachings led to the formation of the well-known Theosophical Society.

At the end of the book, ten ready-to-read-out meditations are provided in order to gain healing, peace, increased intuition, the lifting of past traumas and much more.

We have now moved into the Age of Aquarius where group work is highlighted alongside self-empowerment where we are less inclined to look to teachers and gurus for our answers because we are our own spiritual teachers, however, this circle work guidance manual stood out to me as being very valuable as Wendy’s practical advice is combined with a sense of respect and sacredness for circle/group work, which in turn attracts high energy spirit guidance.

It isn’t a large workbook and guidelines are only provided for reference to be used with our own experience, common sense and intuition. However, if you have in mind to start up a small to medium intuitive group, this book will give you the information and confidence to get started.

  • The practice of energy work extends far beyond those of neopagan religious bent, and while neopagans do have a few guidebooks on coven management, and ritual lodges have century-old systems of structure in place, a more mixed group of what Wendy Stokes calls “lightworkers” do not necessarily have such organizational guides. These spiritual people face the same struggles as their magical cousins in organizing groups, establishing purpose and practicing their arts. The Lightworkers’ Circle Guide addresses concerns both practical and spiritual for those who seek a more loosely defined fellowship for esoteric pursuits.

Stokes takes a business-like, direct tone: this book does not embrace New Age conception. She lays down the rules she uses in her own organization: no recently bereaved, turn off all phones, keep it relevant. The concepts seem so simple as to not need saying until you encounter one of the many “let’s get together, and uh, do something magic” groups that rise and fall with the seasons.

Two especially valuable tools contained within this useful guide involve member screening and diplomacy. “A moral life is a good indication of the quality of a person’s spirit guides, and the type of messages they will receive. Truly gifted mediums always have integrity, discipline, a sense of service, and a respect for other people.” Stokes does not go into fine detail on what she considers moral or immoral; this passage suggests more discernment than “just don’t kill anyone,” but perhaps less judgmental than, “you eat BACON????” Even so, one person’s morality is another person’s immorality, and this leaves interpretation just open enough for a person to create his or her own definitions as best befits a given group.

The guide also sets forth simple recommendations for diplomacy, handling members who sometimes misbehave in ways that annoy but do not destroy. Stokes gives the example of a common character in spiritual groups: the advertiser. Her advice suggests a deft way to handle such a person politely and firmly. This advice requires slight adjustment for different regions of the U.S.; Stokes outlook, while addressing universal problems in spiritual groups, does take a British approach to their resolution that would have different results and responses in a group where most people hail from the U.S.

Stokes gives people who want to work with spiritual concepts, including spirit contact, healing work and trance, an excellent set of tools in order to proceed. In the process, she catches that corner of the alternative-spirituality community that does not identify as “pagan” or “ritualistic” and she succeeds in filling an aching gap. While some cultural differences may come into play from U.S. and possibly some Canadian readers, in itself, and within its British context, this book provides all the tools a person needs to run and manage a spiritual group. Recommended.

  • ‘The Lightworkers Circle Guide – A Workbook for Spiritual Groups’ by Wendy Stokes, is an essential training handbook for those wishing to form a circle to explore channelling, divination and spiritual healing.

The author is an experienced writer, healer, teacher and channeller but a large part of the Guide could be suitable for the general reader who is involved in group membership, including group leaders who wish to know about leadership styles, recruitment, size of membership, and the creation of a mission statement to help maintain a successful working climate. For those who wish to engage in lightworking activities, it explains the spiritual path of the lightworker and provides a workshop programme with numerous tutorials that aids the development and practise of good mediumship. There is a chapter on trouble shooting to help remove negativity and resolve conflict, and there are tips on understanding psychological dynamics which can help or hinder the overall success of any group. Spiritual healing, spirit release, chakra balancing and various methods of meditation are offered - together with relaxation exercises, space clearing, the art of divination by dowsing and scrying and suggestions for music to aid concentration.

For those who have purchased the book, ‘The Lightworkers Circle Hub’ has been specially designed to provide community pages and offers publicity and publishing support and a place to gain and share knowledge. • I trained with Wendy Stokes years ago and have gone on to lead my own groups. The meditations reveal new insights each time they are used. We met in a house with an elder tree and meditated under its branches so named our group 'The Elder Tree'. We created a forum and network and have given talks, raised money for charity and have written articles for Spiritualist publications. ~ Mark Longhurst
  • The New Age has promised so much and has been vacuous and disappointing, if not exploitative. It has been dominated by heavily promoted self-serving agendas. The prophets of prosperity and abundance have a blind spot. Wendy Stokes ushers in a New Era where spirituality is properly redefined as responsibility and accountability for our world. This is a real spiritual movement. She also explains how, by listening to Spirit, we can be guided to make important discoveries which can be shared with others. It's refreshing that, at last, for spiritual seekers, altruism is defined as a spiritual path. This lady is a key person for the New Age, and as a trend setter is instigating a valuable new paradigm. ~ Sandra Myers
  • Barach Obama has said that there is an empathy deficit in the Western world. His words have changed the climate of business from one of greed and consumption to one of give something back. Spirituality too is changing. No longer referring to affluence as a desired goal, true spirituality has concern for the planet, for the global village and for one's neighbour. Wendy is ahead of her time and the Thought Leader of her circle movement. ~ Maureen Carruthers

True spirituality is described as kindness and generosity and sometimes involves the need to challenge the spiritual teachers of the past.

  • Wendy Stokes has written both an informative and instructional book entitled, ‘The Lightworkers Circle Guide – A Workbook for Spiritual Groups’. In it, she explains clearly, and with a depth of experience second to none, how to begin, facilitate and bring to fruition the process of light-working within a developmental circle setting. Each chapter and section can be easily, and comfortably read on its own or alongside others, to build up ones knowledge base and confidence in the work ahead. As a first major book for Wendy, this is a positive, affirmative and potentially transformative publication which is
accessible to all who seek the light as a working tool.

  • This book should be required reading for those who want to start spiritual groups. It is well organized, clearly written, and full of great information. Having been to numerous spiritual groups that were poorly organized, scattered, and, well, less than wonderful, I wish I had had this book to give to the facilitator.
