    Plant Spirit Wisdom

Sin Eaters and Shamans: The Power of Nature in Celtic Healing for the Soul

  • Plant Spirit Wisdom
  • Plant Spirit Wisdom reveals the hidden arts of the sin eater, a Celtic expert in healing the soul through shamanic ritual and spiritual herbalism. The ancient Welsh, Irish, and Scottish healers drew their inspiration and talents from the hidden pagan, shamanic, and herbal traditions, and especially from sin eating: the understanding that the soul is a web of energy which connects us to everyone and everything. This energy can be depleted or lost when we act out of accordance with our spiritual purpose and 'sin'. Plants and practices of soul retrieval were used to rebalance this energy, release old attachments, and repattern our lives for a more positive and healthier future.
In this book, for the first time, these practices are revealed, as well as fascinating insights into the spiritual beliefs of our ancestors and the plants and herbs that can help us find health, stay healthy, and, more than this... understand our soul's purpose on Earth.

This fascinating book will interest herbalists, shamanic practitioners and anyone interested in Celtic lore. Ross Heaven calls on each of these traditions to explore the role of plants in healing the body, mind and soul. Celtic healers were apparently called Sin Eaters and the original sin was in fact a forgetting or disconnection from ones origins. In other words, illness was a result of being out of balance with the natural world, and so a Sin Eater would be able to restore the correct balance of energies by the appropriate application of suitable plants. This is not a comprehensive list of remedies, but an insight into the deep connections we have with the natural world and how we disregard it at our peril. This book will inspire a renewed respect for trees and herbs placing them back at the heart of man's health and will being. It's surely an error that the index has no page numbers.

I was amazed at how plants, animals and spirit all came together in this refreshing 200 page read. There are so many wonderful parts and I enjoyed every one of them. The author has an honest and straight forward way about him that made me feel safe and got my attention all at the same time. There is so much to learn between the covers of this noble teacher and I completely recommend it to anyone wanting the more earthly way to healing on many different levels. Thanks Ross, this makes so much sense.

For a person of the right background interested in working shamanically with plant spirits, this would (I think, but I am no expert) make a good enough place to start. It's also the first book I've read to give me a sense of how Christian Druidry might work.
