She is also a freelance writer whose work can be found in Chic Today, Kindred Spirit, 69 Magazine and others...Alice recently featured as a 'top psychic' in Fate and Fortune magazine in relation to her Tarot Reading.

Alice's father turned Vicar to Witch when she was a young girl and thus her doctrination into alternative spirituality began. Following university she toyed with a number of intriguing jobs including glamour model, promotions girl and bar manager. Alice has since worked as a freelance writer contributing to a number of websites and magazines. These include a two year role as Live Music Editor with 69 Magazine - The UK's largest free entertainment and listings magazine. Alice soon decided to combine her passion for writing with her interest in alternative spirituality and women's concerns.

Alice lives happily with her musician husband James who is the singer and songwriter with Superevolver. His band have recently worked with the likes of Tom Meighan from Kasabian and Dan Hawkins of the Darkness. Also living with Alice are her cats and chickens. Grist explains her work as a modern Woman s introduction to a world of spirituality and alternative thought. What it actually does is re-unite the modern, commercially afflicted female with the concepts, ideas, beliefs and practices of the Earth Mother within. Grist clearly explains that there is no need for ditching the comforts of home for a life of solitude in a damp cave far, far away in order to improve well-being and developing spiritual integrity. It can be as simple as a change of mind or heart, taking on one thing that resonates can lead to a myriad of improvements. This book goes a long way to bridge the gap between the 'land of confusion' and a place of infinite possibilities.

Intimate, wise and sassy! The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment leads us gently by the hand through an otherwise overwhelming array of spiritual and healing approaches. Alice Grist is humorous, frank and insightful. Through the lens of her own experience, Grist cuts to the heart of what it means to be a spiritual seeker in a modern world - unabashedly inviting every contemporary woman, whose soul sings for more, to do the same. A great contribution, delightful to read!

The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment is a must have for every woman wishing to explore their spirituality but don't know where to begin their search - ladies, look no further. Alice informs in a humorous and concise manner which will certainly make you think about changing your life. Fantastic read - every handbag should carry a copy!

The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment is a powerful and wonderfully entertaining journey into spirituality. I suspect that many readers will see it as the true path to 'women's liberation'!

Grist's witty and frank take on all things spiritual provided me with the much-needed 'spiritual cuisine' my hectic work/life calendar required.Working in the ad inundated, all singing, all dancing world of style and lifestyle and running four businesses, the inner me was definitely crying out for a no-nonsense guide to reassessing my lifestyle and shifting my way of thinking.Grist's book is much more than that too, allowing you to dip in and out, develop as a person, and to do all of that easily and with enjoyment!

An enjoyable, light-hearted, first-hand account of spiritual experiences, from psychics and shamans, to crystals and Kabbalah. Alice gives us a fun, yet in-depth account of how she combines modern-day life with a spiritual path.

‘The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment is a must-have for every modern gal who wants to learn how to ‘walk the path’ with style, balance and grace. Alice Grist will show you how... with shed-loads of humor and heart.’

Reading The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment is like embarking on a journey with a close friend you haven’t seen for years: a breathless, compelling ride catching up on all aspects of love, work and the meaning of life. With Alice, we journey through the various Wonderlands of New Age philosophies, and not only do we learn about our tour guide, but we are also gently persuaded to go further: to peer through the looking glass and examine our own beliefs and ideas on some of life’s big mysteries.

As a ballet flats kind of gal, I approached this book with more trepidation over the shoe wear than the spirituality. But regardless of your footwear inclinations, Alice puts us all at ease, talking us through the mysteries of the universe as though she was talking us through a particularly entertaining Saturday night. It's funny, fascinating and inspirational; to the point that I actually began to quote sections to my friends! I feel spiritually richer from the experience so I guess, on a deeper level, I am well heeled after all. Thanks Alice

Common sense without the woo-woo la-la
Many books on the subject of spirituality come from a very ernest and reverent place & quite frankly are quite dull as a result. Alice had blasted through all this in one go and has written a new bible for the smart and sassy woman of the 21st century. Well-heeled men who don't know their Yin from their Yang will learn a lot too. If you suspect the world around you is changing from male-ego-fear-based to something else - but you don't know what to do about it - there are loads of gems, themes and memes to latch on to here for further investigation and study. Thanks for telling it like it is Alice ... & can't wait for the sequel.

Alice Grist is a Tarot Reader and Reiki Practitioner, who has written a chick-lit style mind, body and spirit manual for the uninitiated woman. In order to attract the Cosmo reader, she writes in a chatty, sassy manner about everything from Buddhism and Shamanism to Reiki healing, crystals and Wiccan spells. It's a fascinating read packed with personal stories...Grist writes moving and in depth reflections on her own spiritual journey -from horrific shamanistic visions, to struggle in past lives, to genuine enlightenment. 4 stars. How can we resist this? Jane had lunch with Alice a few weeks ago and loved her and her book. An honest and funny personal account of a range of alternative and spiritual options for the feisty, modern woman. It is spirituality for the sassy socialite, enlightenment for the lip gloss dependent and a crash course in serenity for the yummy mummy! As Divas know there really is more to life than shoes, handbags, men, careers and biological clocks! We are confident you will love this one.

We here at Collective-Evolution feel the need to share this gift with you. This recent book by Alice is a great exploration and eye opener for the modern day woman. In a time where many distractions, stress and great confusion can lead to emotional turmoil, she brings you a sense of not being “alone” in the midst of your journey in this lifetime. We highly recommend this book to anyone, not just females, who are looking for some possible “relief” to this ride we call “life.”

The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment, as I forsee, will be on the best sellers lists over here. Seriously. You know when you just know that a writer has the X Factor and is going to go places? She has it. In spades. She is thoroughly modern, a little bit rock chick, with tons of sass and oh so importantly, she has an excellent sense of humour - AND she is totally jiggy with all things other worldly! What more do you want from a writer?
In her book, Alice takes the modern girl through all realms of spirituality from Buddhism to Kabbalah. She writes it in a genius, definitely enlightened way that makes it accessable and applicable to the every day girl.
It is not a kooky or wacky book that you feel should be reserved for those who live in communes, rather it explains, from her real life experimentation - which elements of different spiritual beliefs are worth adding to your life and why. She finds elements in each that are worth a crack!
    Very, very thought provoking.
I have already taken onboard a lot of the things that resonated with me.
I could not review this more honestly than to cut and paste the email I sent to Alice when I completed her book :
"I LOVE IT I LOVE IT l I just want to congratulate you on a truly truly inspiring piece of work. Although I have never met you, I could truly hear your voice through your writing (though am not sure if you have an american or english accent or combined ??) and it really did feel as though it was told from friend to friend - which truly achieves the goal of being incredibly inspiring - and genuine. You could read any old book about buddhism or tarot cards, but when you are reading it and it feels like you are writing an email direct to me as your mate, to tell me the ins and outs. It adds a whole lot of intergrity (and genius) to the matter.
Since reading your book I have started paying closer attention to a lot of things I might not have paid attention to before.
t has really opened up a world to me, a world to me that I have already been aware of but kind've ignored or suppressed a bit because of the desire to fit in with those around me.
I am sure I am not alone in this and you will reach out and speak to the high heeled lovin' gal who is seeking something a little richer in life than $500 shoes...
It is the book I wish I had've thought of to write, but alas - you have the know-how and it could only be from you.
You have a great talent and thanks for using it to the advantage of the sisterhood!!!"
Please, take my word for it- I am passionate about this book!
Do yourselves a favour and get enlightened!
You can purchase it via Booktopia
I love this gal's writing and style so much I have invited her to Guest Post and be a regular contributor to my upcoming website. More of Alice to come.
If you do get the book, please let me know what you think!

Clearly aimed at a young generation, this is a well written beginner's guide to various components of New Age spirituality and is light hearted but not trivial. Alice Grist charts her own experiences, ups and downs, as she explores ways of adding a spiritual dimension to a modern young woman's life. She gives basic explanations of such topics as reincarnation, Buddhism, spirtualism, kabbalah, reiki, wicca and shamanism, plus more. Reading this book is like taking advice from a good friend who has done it themselves and is keen to help… (08/02/10)

Alice, who I absolutely adore, covers subjects such as Reincarnation, Buddhism, Shamanism and Reiki in a fresh, comical, honest and entertaining way. Not only does it have a pretty cover, I read this book from cover to cover in a day and it’s literally filled to the brim with spiritual goodness – from Kabbalah to shamans, from psychics to crystals – and combines Alice’s own experiences too – LOVE it.
