Meditation: Searching for the Real You
-
-
There are many valid, reasons why people start to meditate. The experiences of Dada Jyotirupananda tell him that if you persist with a meditation practice, you’ll sooner or later seek answers to the deeper questions even if you didn’t start to meditate for any spiritual or esoteric reason.
This book will provide you with tools that can help you to meditate and will help you gain a stronger commitment to regular meditation practice. Learn about how to meditate, about yoga exercises and related practices. Learn how to be healthy through your own efforts and how to adopt a code of conduct that will see you through life’s difficulties, and will help guide you to the deepest fulfilment.
If we can learn how to use these tools of meditation, which will ultimately lead us toward the most profound understanding of life, and along the way give us many advantages such as more self control, and joy in life, then we can be successful, partly because we’ll have a deeper understanding of what success actually means. - Author(s): | Dada Jyotirupananda |

A sweeping and inspired survey of the practices and philosophies that make up the classical Eastern path of yoga.
Over the last 40 years in the West, yoga has mainly become equated with the practice of physical postures or asanas. Jyotirupananda’s book reveals to us the complete or integral yogic path for the total transformation of mind, body and spirit. Some of the ancient practices seem out of step with our modern world, but what makes this book pertinent for all seekers is its emphasis on the perennial keys to higher evolution: discipline, passion, and the need for spiritual guidance. For a book on meditation, In Search of the Real Self is wonderfully edgy and uncompromising in parts - for example, in Dada Jyotirupananda's assessment of the qualities you should look for in a teacher, which certainly caused me to raise an eyebrow or two. But, in my view, that's perfect. Who needs another 'same old' book on meditation, after all? What we really need is fresh thinking, new insights, and new direction. Jyotirupananda gives us this, helps us rethink our craft, and, with fine learning and authorship, leads us to a new understanding of what meditation might really mean in our lives and the benefits we might reap from it.
Meditation: In Search of The Real Self offers clear and persuasive encouragement to those beginning or preparing to begin the practice of meditation as a tool for the acquisition of self-knowledge. Dada Jyotirupananda presents a fresh, personal and well-informed approach to the practice of meditation that is sure to appeal to many.
This book on meditation encapsulates a practical philosophy for personal development and service to the community. Written in clear and unpretentious language it is a record of a personal journey of self discovery as well as a handbook that clarifies obscure and often difficult ancient Hindu concepts - pearls of wisdom on the path to achieving our full human potential of Self-Realization.
A wonderful introduction to the ancient philosophy of Tantra, full of gentle wisdom and humour. This book will enrich your life and guide you to a state of true well-being.
A clear and inspiring book that makes the idea of spiritual ‘discipline’ seem an adventure to be enjoyed rather than a drag to be endured. A wonderful book.
